ATTENTION

FOR BUILDING PERMITS AND PLACEMENT PERMITS WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS :
For structures (carports, sheds, gazebos, etc.) less than 120sf in size, and for mobile homes or manufactured homes, a Placement Permit is required prior to construction/placement. A Floodplain Development Permit may also be required. Email the completed Placement Permit application to: pzdept@tobnm.gov
For structures greater than 120sf in size, solar panels, stucco, re-roofs and demolition, a CID Building Permit is required prior to construction. Town staff must review and sign off on the application prior to submittal to CID.
To submit an application, please follow these steps:
1. CONTRACTORS: For a general construction permit, fill out and submit the attached Building Permit Application and a copy of your building plans to: pzdept@tobnm.gov
2. HOMEOWNERS: For a homeowners construction permit, fill out and submit the attached Homeowner Building Permit Application and a copy of your building plans to: pzdept@tobnm.gov 
3. Town staff will conduct the zoning and floodplain review. If you already know that your property is in the floodplain, submit a Floodplain Development Permit Application, otherwise staff will contact you if one is needed.
4. After the Town's review is complete (generally 2-3 days), staff will email you the review fee amount and, once paid, will email you the signed application and a copy of your receipt.
5. Submit PDFs of the signed application, building plans and any other required documents, to the State of New Mexico Construction Industries Division (CID), electronically via their permitting website at: www.rld.nm.gov.
6. CID issues building permits, trades permits and all inspections on behalf of the Town. 
For all other applications, go to the Planning and Zoning Department's Forms and Applications web page. Fill out and email your application to: pzdept@tobnm.gov  
Once the application is reviewed, we will email you with the fee amount. Once the fee is received (via phone/credit card OR mail/check), we will email you the permit and a copy of your receipt. To pay by credit/debit card, contact the Town cashier's office at (505) 771-7120  OR  (505) 771-7122.
